About Grantley
Grantley A. McIntyre is a beloved New York based celebrity makeup artist with over 30 years of experience. On TV, Grantley was responsible for making celebrities and anchors look their best on camera. The list of celebrities he worked with, from Aretha Franklin to Ivanka Trump, from Jane Fonda to Katie Couric, and from Allison Janney to Anita Baker, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, President Bill Clinton. Debbie Allen, and Sheryl Lee Ralph to name a few is a living testament of the quality of his work and trustworthiness.
In 1982 Grantley left his birth home of Kingston, Jamaica to move to New York City. In 1989 he slowly began to create a niche for himself in the world of Fashion and Cosmetology. Grantley began his career at Christine Valmy, moved on to Vidal Sassoon (hair) and then to the Henri Bendel Salon.
As a freelance make-up artist, Grantley worked at Paris, New York, and Brazil Fashion Week(s). Grantley also worked with a number of magazines and a host of others. For the fifteen years he has been Lead Make-up Artist at the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). Grantley began his career doing early morning news at CNN, and “The Today Show” with Katie Couric (NBC). The “Claman Countdown” with Liz Claman (FOX Media and now with MSNBC).
While in New York, he expanded his repertoire to Broadway. On Broadway, Grantley worked on various productions that included “On Golden Pond” with the late James Earl Jones where he supervised both hair and make-up, “Thoroughly Modern Millie” where he first met and worked with Sheryl Lee Ralph, Smokey Joe’s Café, Beauty and the Beast, Titanic, and Disney’s The Lion King.
His experience within the film industry as a member of Local 798 Hair and Make-up Union include the most recent film “72 Hours” with Kevin Hart. Television periodicals; Power Book series II & III; Ghost and Raising Kanan, WuTang: An American Saga, and Pose.
Grantley's philosophy is visionary: he gets ideas from things he sees, current trends, and anticipating future trends. He then mixes all that with his creativity and applies it. His aim is to always deliver a feeling of clean and polished work done with integrity.
